Bring the trophy to Brum

We do need to encourage English and British teams to see the merit of parading in Birmingham. Birmingham is far more accessible to the much of the country than London and we would do a better job than Trafalgar Square.

"When we win the world cup - bring the trophy to Brum", says John Hemming MP.

"I have been talking to the FA about parading the trophy in Birmingham when England win the world cup. We can do these things properly.", he said.

John Hemming has been talking to the FA about alternative locations to Trafalgar Square. He met up with the scorer of the hat trick Sir Geoff Hurst in the 1966 World Cup and the FIFA world trophy at a meeting in Parliament at which this issue was discussed."

Surely this can't be yet another cheap political stunt.

Oh. Yes it can.

Have you got the agreement of Whitless for this parade, because he'll need some time to think about it. I'm not sure that being a world-leading, winning City is the image that he's after for Birmingham.

Comrade, you forget. The World Cup is after the local government elections ans in all probability whoever wins will dump this twerp within hours of the result.

Six months for recording a court hearing - Norman Scarth

The link is in Russian about the imprisonment of Norman Scarth who is actually 85. He has a complex history including a court hearing which found that he used a chainsaw to fight off bailiffs when he was 75. [a court judgment which is disputed see comments] However, that does not justify imprisoning him for 6 months for recording a court hearing (see the link and ask google to translate it if your Russian is not up to it). It has got into the Argyll News Because he has been held such that people cannot get to him to sign paperwork an application for a writ of Habeas Corpus was made today. This has been adjourned until next week. The English judicial system is really not good at responding to major abuses of human rights by the judicial system.
