The Last Minute Labour Nasty

The link is to the story about the Oldham East and Saddleworth Election Court. This was a case about some last minute Labour leaflets making allegations that are clearly untrue.

It is a common habit of the Labour Party to deliver a last minute negative leaflet on the Wednesday before the election day (normally Thursday). Hence it is good to have them warned that they are not allowed to make things up about their opponents.

Can hardly wait to see the result of this "by election" if it is indeed a by election!....Might just give you some idea of how the Lib Dem Voters feel about you after just 6 months of pandering to the Tories!....And if anyone listened to your utterly pathetic performance on the Jeremy Vine Show on Thursday, stating black was white.....YOU and YOUR SELL OUT CRONIES ARE FINISHED!!!!

Neal, it could be very interesting, but I wouldn't bet against a Lib Dem win, given their by-election machine and the peculiar circumstances of this case.

If they lose, then it is spectacularly bad news for them.

Incidentally, I don't think Labour have made anything up about you, John.

Frankly, we don't need to.

That may be the case in recent years. However, things were made up by Yardley Labour Party in the Acocks Green by-election in 1990.

20 years ago? Dear God, let it go man.

Hey, things were made up about my election campaign a few years ago in an interview with the local media....

Besides, when it comes to dodgy leaflets, aren't you chucking stones from the safety of a glass house?

There have been last minute nasties from Labour in Birmingham since 2004 as well in various places.

The Godsiff leaflet wasn't itself last minute, but was sufficiently nasty to be disowned nationally.

NHS reorganisation No 3,493,233

Followers of my blog will have seen the NHS question about how many reorganisations have we had. We've yet another. The number of PCTs (Primary Care Trusts) nationally is to halve. This means merging East and North. (and then probably HoB and south). It would be nice if people would stick with one structure. There is a quotation ( Which sadly does not appear to be a true quotation ) We trained hard . . . but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams we would be reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing; and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization. But has to have been originated by someone. The web link shown goes through the derivation which appears to be more linked to an anonymous British Soldier WW2 than any Roman or Greek General called by a name perming 2 out of (Gaius, Galus, Petronius and Arbiter).
