Health - a result

I think the way in which the NHS reforms have been produced is a good example of how government should work. I was always concerned that we should keep the NHS as an essentially co-operative organism with European competition law being kept out.

What has happened through a process of consultation is that a set of proposals for reform that deal with most of the serious criticisms have been developed.

I personally think that a government that listens and sometimes changes is a good thing for the country. The examples on Forestry, EMA (£100m extra money for 6th formers), the NHS and student finance (higher payments by higher earners) are all cases where the initial policy has been changed in a positive way as a result of a conversation with citizens. We have failed to explain the student finance one, but people will find out how it works over time.

The kind of 'reform' I would like to see is where those 'people' are actually named, shamed and prosecuted when they murder or manslaughter people.
Or when they abduct somebody in an ambulance (for example), throw them out of, sentence them to fate worse than death then jail the mother when she enacts her son's wishes and removes the 'so called' medical attention. It's not actually medical attention when done without consent, at the very least it is assault and most likely GBH...personally I refuse any so called 'medical attention' as it is actually illegal to have anyhting that hasn't been tortured on animals first....sick society we survive in!
Not to mention privacy...which for means totally anonymous now! They refuse to give names, tell their addresses, DOB etc. so why shouldn't us victims? It's only the 'good one's' that claim to be a non physical entity BEFORE they attack you....and they're pretty much extinct now from what I can gather! Brave new world!

Why are babies born young?

Why are babies born young? This sounds like an odd question. People would say "of course babies are born young". However, this goes to the core of the question of human (or animal) development. Why is it that as time passes people develop initially through puberty and then for women through menopause and more generally getting diseases such as sarcopenia, osteoporosis, diabetes and cancer, but most of the time babies start showing no signs of this. Lots of research into this has happened over the years and now I think it is clear why this is. It raises some interesting questions. Biological youth is about how well a cell functions. Cells that are old in a biological sense don't work that well. One of the ways in which cells stop working is they fail to produce the full range of proteins. Generally the proteins that are produced from longer genes stop being produced. The reason for this relates to how the Genes work (the Genome). Because the genome is not gettin...
