"I don't believe it".

Clearly I have one foot in the grave. I was aware that my son (12) liked to have jeans which were torn so much that one of the first things he did was to tear them. However, what I was not aware of was that the free market had operated to provide pre-torn jeans with small strategically placed rips.

When I was a lad ... we did have pre-faded jeans. However, it strikes me as odd that people would actually buy clothes that are ripped. Still c'est la vie.

In the mean time my daughter has got at my computer and replaced Internet Explorer with Firefox. I am not sure yet whether I wish to revert or not.

The trials and tribulations of parenthood.

Sir,

I certainly reccommend that you give Firefox a fair crack. I've been using Mozilla suite (the forerunner of Firefox, browser, and Thunderbird, mail client) for a few years now and never looked back.

The only times I ever use IE is for sites that rely on ActiveX or VB script and so can only be viewed in IE. such sites are becoming rarer.

Looking at the counter stats for my website about two thirds of hits are a version of IE whilst about 25% are Firefox/Mozilla/another Gecko based browser. A year ago those figures were around 85% and 5% respectively.

Trudiagnostic change PACE leaderboard algorithm - was in position 40, now position 44 - does it matter?

Trudiagnostic have changed the way they handle the Rejuvenation Olympics Leaderboard algorithm. The result of this initially was that I was globally no 40 and have now dropped to 44. Trudiagnostic are a US company that get samples of blood and they look at the DNA to see which parts of the DNA have methyl groups (CH3) attached to them. These modifications to DNA are called methylation markers. DunedinPACE is an algorithm which uses DNA methylation markers in white blood cells to work out how quickly or slowly someone is aging. I had three results on this. The odd thing about the results was that whilst my epigenetic age calculated from the same methylation markers was going down, the speed at which I was aging was going up. I find this somewhat counterintuitive. It is, however, I think relevant that in a global contest my approach on biochemistry which is quite different to many other people's does seem to keep up with others working in the same area. To that extent it...
