Habeus Corpus Precedents

Althouh we haven't had to use these yet we have now got some draft precedents for applying for Habeus Corpus. Whether they will result in a retrial is another issue.

As an absolute minimum there should be a public pronouncement of the sentence.

We tried habeus corpus in one case. It was referred to the Civil Appeals division by the Queen bench division who refused to accept it.

The judiciary want to remove habeus corpus the strongest writ imaginable and have it replaced by Judicial review which is very weak.

Followers of my blog will have seen the NHS question about how many reorganisations have we had. We've yet another. The number of PCTs (Primary Care Trusts) nationally is to halve. This means merging East and North. (and then probably HoB and south). It would be nice if people would stick with one structure.
