i have been living in calne for the past 2 years. i am disgusted by the very low turn out at yesterdays by election; only 22% of local people decided to get off the sofa and vote.

local elections are grass roots politics that affect all of us. there needs to be a radical approach to encouraging people to take an interest on a local level.

one of my main concerns is that the BNP recieved 10% of the vote that is 84 people voted for them. does this mean that the BNP followers are more likely to vote as they feel so passionate about their political views or does this figure reflect the actual amount of calne residents support their cause. i believe the former to be true. if that is the case, the mainstream political parties need to iginite a political fire under local people.

finally i would like to a big good luck to Glenis Ansell.

I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing; and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization. But has to have been originated by someone. The web link shown goes through the derivation which appears to be more linked to an anonymous British Soldier WW2 than any Roman or Greek General called by a name perming 2 out of (Gaius, Galus, Petronius and Arbiter). From the...
