NHS Dentistry in Birmingham

After tonight's group meeting I attending the NHS Concern meeting about Dentistry.

It is a bit unfair on the local PCTs. The government are forcing them to use a new contract and limiting the budget they have (recent cuts of £19 million per year from expected figures). The end result is they have to try to defend the indefensible.

It was unusual to have a meeting about Dentistry. Birmingham has been well served with NHS Dentistry until now, but it looks like there will be problems in the new financial year.

Does this mean there have been cuts... there are expected cuts... or is it Hemming speculation of cuts? You seem obscure, could this be deliberate? £19million out of how much? What is the budget?

It is the Purchaser protection adjustment withdrawal. About 2% of PCT budgets.

So, about 2p in the pound. Aren't they expected to make those savings from the management reductions in the PST reconfigeration?

There is a quotation ( Which sadly does not appear to be a true quotation ) We trained hard . . . but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams we would be reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing; and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization. But has to have been originated by someone. The web link shown goes through the derivation which appears to be more linked to an anonymous British Soldier WW2 than any Roman or Greek General called by a name perming 2 out of (Gaius, Galus, Petronius and Arbiter).
