Birmingham Strategic Partnership


Birmingham's Citywide Strategic Partnership has had some problems, but I now feel that things are starting to move in the right direction.

There are many issues that need different bodies to work together. The best route to achieving this is through what is called "partnership working". In the past the City's Citywide Strategic Partnership has been dominated by vague discussions about strategies - with the usual problem with the bureaucracy of strategies having the ability to undermine action.

We have now managed to clarify the objectives of the Strategic Partnership and also clarify the membership (and broaden it slightly).

Why are babies born young? This sounds like an odd question. People would say "of course babies are born young". However, this goes to the core of the question of human (or animal) development. Why is it that as time passes people develop initially through puberty and then for women through menopause and more generally getting diseases such as sarcopenia, osteoporosis, diabetes and cancer, but most of the time babies start showing no signs of this.
