Ukrainians arrested in Yardley over Mosque Bombings

With the EDL doing the best they can to cause further division in society comes the news that the people arrested for the Mosque Bombings, who were working in Yardley Constituency, are Ukrainian (see today's Birmingham Mail - I was aware of this beforehand from the police, but had not got their permission to reveal this).

This raises some serious questions as to the motivation behind this spate of terror attacks. Ukraine, of course, is neither a member of the EU nor of the EEA. There is a division between Russian and Ukrainian cultures in Ukraine. It is worth people being aware that there are people whose objective is to cause division. The people who oppose violence and division need to stand together against people like the murderers of Lee Rigby, the EDL and others who wish to create division and strife.

Noting later that a further arrest has occurred it raises yet further questions. Ones which, over time, will be answered - however.

This is general comment and speculation as I haven't seen the names of the accused or details of their backgrounds.

Are these students? The British Council has been advertising the UK as a student destination. Often PostGrad. It isn't easy for Ukrainian passport holders (if they are) to work in the UK.

Som Ukrainians work in the UK using Polish or other Eastern European papers.

You get a full span of opinions in Ukraine but the centre of gravity in terms of racist nationalism is more extreme than in the UK. As you say there are ethnic Ukrainians and Russians in the country. There are also Muslims (especially Crimean Tatars) and they are concentrated in Crimea (which isn't very Ukrainian).

The east and the south of the country has the main concentrations of Russians. The south was colonised by the Russian Empire as the Turks/Tatars were pushed back.

Once names are released it will be 9/10 clear whether the suspects are ethnic Russian or Ukrainian.

I suspect John is just being careful. It was, I think, a link through to a summary of the suspect's social media presence. I think Shekhovtsov's summary is rather careful, but no matter, John can decide what appears on his blog. My blogs contain the link as I think it is no different to summarising the Tsarnaev social media activity.

NHS reorganisation No 3,493,233

Followers of my blog will have seen the NHS question about how many reorganisations have we had. We've yet another. The number of PCTs (Primary Care Trusts) nationally is to halve. This means merging East and North. (and then probably HoB and south). It would be nice if people would stick with one structure. There is a quotation ( Which sadly does not appear to be a true quotation ) We trained hard . . . but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams we would be reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing; and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization. But has to have been originated by someone. The web link shown goes through the derivation which appears to be more linked to an anonymous British Soldier WW2 than any Roman or Greek General called by a name perming 2 out of (Gaius, Galus, Petronius and Arbiter).
