The Digital Economy Bill

I have just intervened on the Digital Economy Bill to point out that Freedom of Information Requests are copyrighted by local authorities amongst other public authorities.

This means that the enforcement methods in the Bill could be used against websites that report the information from FOI.

It is important that those people who work in the creative industries can earn money for their work. However, rushing through such a badly thought out bill is not at all sensible.

I have just heard the Equalities bill has been sent for Royal accent, again another Bill I think needed a little more time to be debated, especially after the comments by Chris Grayling even though Liberal Democrat Evan Harris asked shadow home secretary Mr Harper about Chris Grayling's comments that bed and breakfasts run by Christians should be allowed to turn away gay couples because of their sexuality. Mr Harper defended Mr Grayling, saying: "He's content with the law as it is and doesn't seek to change it, and indeed on that he's in line with the rest of the party."

But has to have been originated by someone. The web link shown goes through the derivation which appears to be more linked to an anonymous British Soldier WW2 than any Roman or Greek General called by a name perming 2 out of (Gaius, Galus, Petronius and Arbiter).
