Ali Samsam Bakhtiari and Peak Oil
The people from the industry who are most vocal about Peak Oil generally are retired. That means they know what is going on, but are under no employer pressure to tone down statements.
Ali Samsam Bakhtiari worked for the Iranian Oil Company until 2005. The link is to a useful report on some of his speeches and articles.
He estimates that global oil production peaked in 2006. The big problem with "oil production" is defining the word "oil". Generally Conventional Oil as opposed to deep sea (of which there is much less and it is harder to extract) is likely to have peaked (although we won't know for a few years).
We are trying to establish a Parliamentary Group for the Study of Peak Oil.
